Skip the handwriting: a QR code visitors scan to sign in

Paper sign-in sheets come back with half-legible names and phone numbers missing a digit. With a free SimpleListings account, each property gets its own sheet with a QR code. Visitors scan it, sign in on their phone, and every sign-in arrives in your leads with the property attached and an email to you.

  • Name, phone and email typed by the visitor, so they're spelled right
  • Each sign-in saved on that property, marked "Open house"
  • After they sign in, visitors can open the listing page to see it again

Add the property's photos or link, create your free account, print.

How to get leads from your open house sign-in

  1. Greet people at the door, not from across the room. Hand them the clipboard or point to the QR code while you introduce yourself. Most people sign in when asked in person.
  2. Keep the sheet short. Name, phone, email and one or two yes/no questions. Every extra field costs sign-ins.
  3. Ask "Working with an agent?" It tells you who to follow up with and keeps you from soliciting another agent's client.
  4. Offer something for signing in. A printed feature sheet, the disclosure packet, or a link to the listing page with all the photos.
  5. Follow up within 24 hours. A short text that mentions the house and asks one easy question gets more replies than a long email.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Fill in your details, then print the sheet or save it as a PDF from the print dialog. No signup and no watermark.

The property address and date, your name and contact details, and columns for each visitor's name, phone and email. Many agents add "Working with an agent?" so they know who is represented, and "Pre-approved?" to spot serious buyers. Keep it short: every extra column means fewer people fill it in.

Use both. A paper sheet on the counter is familiar and fast, but handwriting is hard to read and the list has to be typed up later. A QR code lets visitors sign in on their phone, so names, numbers and emails arrive spelled correctly and ready to follow up. With a free SimpleListings account, the sheet gets a QR code and phone sign-ins land in your leads.

It's good practice to ask everyone, for the seller's security as much as for leads, but you can't force it. Greet people at the door, explain that the seller asked you to keep a record of visitors, and offer the QR code for those who prefer their phone.

Text or call within 24 hours, while the home is fresh in their mind. Mention something specific about the house, share the listing link, and ask one easy question, such as whether they want to see similar homes. Respect the "working with an agent" answer: if they have one, keep it to a thank-you.

Only in ways visitors would expect. Follow up about the property and similar homes, honor opt-outs, and follow your state's and brokerage's rules for texts and emails. Don't share the list with anyone else.
