Your agent asked for a review, you want to help, and then you stare at an empty box. That’s normal. Most people have never written a review for a realtor, and “Great agent, highly recommend!” feels too thin for someone who just helped with the biggest purchase of their life.
This page has 57 sample realtor reviews grouped by situation: buying, selling, first homes, relocations, rentals, investments, luxury homes and deals that got complicated. Find the one closest to your story, copy it, and change the details in [brackets] to what really happened.
These are samples, not real reviews. We wrote every example on this page to give you ideas. None of them come from real clients. A review should describe your own experience, so treat these as a starting point and make them yours.

Quick answer: what to write in a review for your realtor
A helpful realtor review is 3 to 6 sentences long and covers four things: your situation (bought, sold or rented, and where), one specific thing the agent did, the result, and who you’d recommend them to. Here’s a sample that does all four:
“[Agent name] sold our house in [Maple Grove] in 9 days for $15,000 over asking. They gave us honest pricing advice instead of just the highest number and called us after every showing. If you’re selling in [city], I’d recommend them without hesitation.”

What makes a realtor review useful
People read agent reviews to answer one question: “Will this person handle my situation well?” Reviews that answer it have the same ingredients:
- Your situation. First-time buyer, selling an inherited home, relocating for work. This helps readers in the same spot find your review.
- A specific action. “Pulled the permit history on the roof” says more than “very knowledgeable.”
- The outcome. Days on market, price compared with asking, closing on time, or simply how you feel in the new place.
- How it felt. Calm, informed, never rushed. Buying or selling a home is stressful, so this matters to readers.
- A recommendation. Who should hire this agent? “Anyone selling with kids at home” is more useful than “everyone.”
Too vague
“Great agent! Very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!”
Specific and helpful
“We were first-time buyers and nervous about everything. [Agent name] explained each step before it happened and caught a roof issue that got us a [$8,000] credit. We love our new home.”

Real estate investor review examples

I’ve bought [5] rental properties with [Agent name]. They know what tenants in [area] pay, which repairs are worth doing, and which listings to skip. They think like an investor, not just an agent.
Our first investment property. [Agent name] helped us compare returns, introduced us to a property manager, and was honest when a “deal” was really a money pit.
[Agent name] helped me complete a 1031 exchange on a tight deadline. They found the replacement property inside the identification window and worked directly with my accountant and the intermediary.
Fast, data-driven and responsive. [Agent name] sent comps within an hour of every question, which let us make offers before other investors did.
Renter and landlord review examples

Luxury home review examples
For high-end homes, discretion, marketing quality and patience matter. You don’t need to mention the price.
[Agent name] marketed our home like a magazine feature: professional photos, video, a twilight shoot, and private showings only for pre-qualified buyers. Their discretion meant a great deal to us.
We were looking for a waterfront home with very specific requirements. [Agent name] found off-market options through their network and negotiated with complete professionalism.

[Agent name] coordinated with our attorney, accountant and designer so we didn’t have to. White-glove service from the first call to closing.
Review examples for difficult transactions
Reviews that mention a problem and how it was solved are often the most convincing. Be specific, and fair to everyone involved.

The appraisal came in [$20,000] low. [Agent name] challenged it with better comps, negotiated with the buyer, and saved the deal.

Responsive, organized and a great negotiator. We’d hire [Agent name] again in a heartbeat.

How to write a review for your realtor: a fill-in-the-blank formula
If none of the examples fit, use this formula. Fill in each blank in one short sentence and you’ll have a complete review in about two minutes.
[Agent name] helped me [buy / sell / rent] [type of home] in [area]. I was worried about [your main concern]. [Agent name] [one specific thing they did]. In the end, [the result: price, timing, how you feel now]. I’d recommend [Agent name] to anyone who [situation like yours].
A few tips that make any review better:
- Use the agent’s name. It helps people searching for them, and it reads more personal.
- Mention the area (neighborhood or city), not your street address.
- Pick one detail you still remember a week later. That’s usually the thing that mattered most.
- Be honest about bumps. A review that says “there was a problem and they fixed it” is often more convincing than a perfect story.
- Skip private details like the exact price you paid, loan terms or other people’s names, unless you’re comfortable sharing them publicly.
Where to post a review for your real estate agent
If your agent sent you a link, start there: that’s where they asked for it. You can paste the same words on the other sites afterward. Here’s how each one works.
Google reviews show up when people search for your agent or their brokerage, and on Google Maps. You need a Google account.
- Open the review link your agent sent, or search Google for your agent’s name (or their team or brokerage) and open their business profile.
- Select Write a review.
- Choose your star rating, write your review, and add photos if you like.
- Select Post.
Zillow
Many buyers and sellers browse agents on Zillow, and reviews appear on the agent’s Zillow profile. You need a free Zillow account.
- Sign in to Zillow, or create an account.
- Open your agent’s profile from the link they sent, or find them with Zillow’s agent search.
- Scroll down to their reviews and select Write a review.
- Fill out the form and submit it. Zillow checks reviews before publishing them, so yours may take a little while to appear.
Realtor.com
Agents on Realtor.com can send you a review request by email. You can also go to your agent’s public profile on Realtor.com while signed in to your Realtor.com account and leave a rating and review there.
Your agent’s own website or review page
Many agents collect testimonials on their own page and show them on their website, listings and social media. If your agent texted you a link to a short form, that’s probably what it is. These usually ask for permission before showing your name publicly, and some will offer to send you to Google afterward with your text ready to paste.
Short on time? Write it once in your notes app, then paste it into each site. Two minutes for the first one, thirty seconds for each after that.
For agents: how to get and use testimonials
If you’re an agent, this page is meant to be shared. Many clients want to leave a review but don’t know what to say. Send them the link along with your request: “Not sure what to write? Here are some ideas.”
Ask at the right moment, and make it one tap
- Timing: ask right after closing, when you hand over the keys, or on move-in day. Past clients count too.
- A direct link: send a link that opens the review form, not “find me on Google.” For Google, create one with our free Google review link generator.
- Where they already talk to you: text, WhatsApp or email. One friendly reminder after a few days is fine; more than that is chasing. Need the words? Copy one of our scripts to ask clients for a review.
- Ask everyone: Google doesn’t allow asking only happy clients, and you shouldn’t pay for reviews or reward only positive ones. Never write a review for a client, even if they say “just write something and I’ll post it.”
Show testimonials where clients decide
Reviews on Google and Zillow help people find you. Testimonials in your own marketing help them choose you. Put them where buyers and sellers are already looking:
- Your bio link page. The link in your Instagram or TikTok bio is often the first thing a new lead opens. See our real estate bio link guide.
- Every listing page. A buyer looking at a home is deciding whether to contact you. A review from a past buyer in the same area helps.
- Social posts. One testimonial makes one post or story: a short quote, the client’s first name, and the area.
- Your website and listing presentation. Sellers interview several agents. Show reviews from sellers in their neighborhood.
That’s what SimpleListings testimonials do. You type the client’s name and send a ready-made message by text, email or WhatsApp. The client leaves stars and a few words from their phone in about a minute, with no app or account, and the form has built-in prompts for buyers, sellers, renters, landlords and investors. You approve each testimonial before it appears on your bio link, your listing pages, your testimonials page and your website.

Reply to a detailed 5-star review
Thank you, [Client name]! Helping you find your home in [neighborhood] was a highlight of my year. Enjoy [the backyard / the new kitchen], and call me anytime you need a contractor, a plumber or anything else. – [Agent name]
Reply to a short 5-star review
Thanks so much, [Client name]. It was a pleasure helping you sell your home. Wishing you the best in [new city]! – [Agent name]
Reply to a mixed or negative review
Thank you for the honest feedback, [Client name]. I’m sorry the [closing delay] caused you stress. You’re right that I should have [updated you sooner], and I’ve changed how I handle that. I’d welcome a call to talk it through. – [Agent name], [phone]
For a negative review, don’t argue in public. Acknowledge the problem, say what you changed, and move the conversation to a call. Readers judge your reply more than the complaint.
